Happy Birthday to Nate G and Nate M!
I hope you all had a chance to stop by the Multicultural Fair on Friday. I enjoyed hearing about all the different cultures we have right here in our classroom. We learned about yummy foods, clothing, and even about a few ancestors.
Please continue to encourage your child to complete the PAWS library reading program: Our class goal is to have 100% participation, and we are almost there. Forms are due this Wednesday February 28th. Thank you!
Thursday, March 1st, students will participate in the Big Art Day during their essentials time. Mrs. Weir is encouraging each child to bring in a smooth rock for a school wide project that day.
This Friday, March 2nd, we are heading to the Blanton Museum and the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum. If you have not done so, please return your child’s permission slip and $2.00 admission fees as soon as possible. We will wear our CCE t-shirts, and everyone needs to bring a disposable sack lunch, drink and snack.
If you are interested in being a chaperone for this fun, exciting field trip, please let me know. We would love for you to join us.
Enjoying your children,
Joni Biggers

EDUCATION GALAXY APP:
Third graders took the pretest for Education Galaxy Math & Reading. This is the online educational app you signed a permission slip for your child to use. Most students finished the diagnostic pretests and started to work on "my recommended topics for instruction". Your child may use this app at home as well! His/her username is capital S followed by their 6 digit student ID number (no space). Their password is the same. Everyone is encouraged to spend a minimum of 10 minutes per day working on the app.
EDUCATION GO GET IT!
Education Go Get It Week is a week for students to start thinking about future education and career opportunities. It is coming up March 5-9, 2018 at Canyon Creek Elementary. There will be more information coming soon, but in the meantime, Mrs. Hougham wanted to share a few details in preparation:
Dress Up Days:
Monday, March 5: Education starts HERE! Wear your favorite CCE t-shirt!
Wednesday, March 7: Post-secondary education comes in many forms—wear a College/Military/Training Program T-Shirt!
Friday, March 9: Dress up in your future career gear!
WEEKLY HOMEWORK:
Planners are completed daily. Please check and initial your child’s planner nightly. These students still require support from home.
Nightly Reading -3rd graders are still required to read for a minimum of 20 minutes per night and record a response on their reading log. Logs are DUE every Wednesday. Book Bucks are earned with every 100 minutes read. Students can “purchase” books from our “Book Buck Library” with 10 book bucks.
Nightly reading is crucial to your child's overall reading success. Reading should be an interactive process, so please remember to initial your child's log before turning it in on Wednesday.
Each Friday students will receive spelling lists and worksheets. Practice spelling the words correctly and complete the homework worksheets as they are due each Thursday. Spelling Tests will be administered on Fridays.
