It was great to see everyone at our STEAM night. Thank you for supporting not only our third graders but all the amazing things our CCE students are doing! Fun was had by all, and I loved watching all the families explore together.
Congratulations to Roam and Abhi for participating and placing in the Science Fair!
YUMMY!!! Thank you to the PTA for providing the faculty and staff with a delicious luncheon Friday. The Super Bowl goodies will certainly make it on my Super Bowl Party menu next Sunday. These Friday Feasts are very much appreciated.
Happy 100th day of school! It is hard to believe that the 100th day of school is Friday, February 1st! We have learned a lot in 100 days and are very excited to celebrate our accomplishments.
Enjoying your children,
Joni Biggers
THIRD GRADE AND CCE CAMPUS NEWS
January Character Trait: HELPFUL
LIBRARY READING PROGRAM:
We have kicked off our Six Flags and Schlitterbahn reading program. Since your child is already reading 20 minutes nightly, this is the perfect opportunity to participate. Please encourage your child to complete his/her homework reading log, Six Flags, and Schlitterbahn reading sheets. Our class goal is to have 100% participation! Look for the reading sheets in your child's Homework Folder.
SAY CHEESE:
Just a reminder that our class picture will be taken on Thursday, January 31st. Payment envelopes went home in the Tuesday folder and are due on or before picture day. Let me know if you need another envelope.
VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY
Our Valentine’s class list was sent home in last week’s Tuesday folder, and I hope your child has been thinking of a creative way to decorate his/her box.
Boxes are due in class on Wednesday, February 13th. Valentine cards may be brought to school starting on that same date. Please be sure your child prepares a Valentine card for every student in the class. Since Valentine's Day is a party day, your child may attach a small piece of candy or treat to their Valentine cards.
PARENT SURVEY:
If you haven’t already done so, please take a few minutes and do the parent survey. This provides such great feedback to our school and we love to know what you are liking about CCE and suggestions on how we can continue to grow and do the best for all our students. It is quick and easy and greatly appreciated. You can find the parent survey here.
HOMEWORK:
Planners are completed daily. Please check and initial your child’s planner nightly.
Students are required to read for a minimum of 20 minutes per night and record a quick response on their reading logs. Signed logs are DUE every Wednesday. Book Bucks are earned with every 100 minutes read. Students can “purchase” books from our “Book Buck Libraries” with 10 book bucks.
Nightly reading is crucial to your child's overall reading success. Reading should be an interactive process, so please remember to initial or sign your child's log before turning it in on Wednesday.
Students should practice math skills 10 minutes nightly. This could be anything from Education Galaxy, to flashcards or even a series of problems written by a parent. This link has some suggestions for free math apps, too. Free Math Apps
Each FRIDAY students will receive spelling lists and work. Practice spelling the words correctly and complete the homework packet due each THURSDAY. Spelling Tests will be administered on Fridays.
