YUMMY!!! Thank you to the PTA for providing the faculty and staff with a delicious luncheon Friday. The Super Bowl goodies will certainly make it on my Super Bowl Party menu next Sunday. These monthly feasts are very much appreciated.
PAWS LIBRARY READING PROGRAM: We have kicked off our PAWS Six Flags and Schlitterbahn reading program. Since your child is already reading 20 minutes nightly, this is the perfect opportunity to participate. Please encourage your child to complete both their homework reading log and the Six Flags and Schlitterbahn reading sheets. Thank you to those of you who have already turned in their forms!
SAY CHEESE: Just a reminder that our class picture will be taken on Thursday, February 1st. Payment envelopes went home in the Tuesday folder and are due on or before picture day. Let me know if you need another envelope.
VALENTINE’S DAY PARTY: A pink paper will be coming home in your child's Tuesday Folder with a class list, dates and instructions for bringing in a decorated Valentine box or bag. We are looking forward to our party on Wednesday, February 14th.
STAYING CONNECTED: Please continue to read my webpage each weekend with your child. This is the best way to stay informed on all that goes on in our classroom. It’s also important to check your child’s homework folder and planner DAILY for assignments and work not completed in class. Thank you for your support! I truly appreciate all that you do!
Enjoying your children,
Joni Biggers
THIRD GRADE AND CCE CAMPUS NEWS
PARENT CLIMATE SURVEY
Please take a few moments to participate in the 2018 Parent Climate Survey today. Each day staff, students and volunteers at Canyon Creek Elementary work hard to ensure academic programs and the campus environment meet the needs of all children. You are a critical part of our success!
The survey will only be available for a short time, please participate today.
English: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2018ParentEnglish
Spanish: https://es.surveymonkey.com/r/2018ParentSpanish
Did you know that your 3rd grader also took the climate survey? This is the primary way that the district gets information from students about what they like about their schools and the things that could be better. The results from both surveys are used as part of the campus improvement planning (CIP) process.
MULTICULTURAL FAIR - SAVE THE DATE!
The Multicultural Fair is on Friday, February 23rd. We need volunteers to be able to make this event a success. To sign up, please go to:

JANUARY CHARACTER TRAIT: Empathy
WEEKLY HOMEWORK:
Planners are completed daily. Please check and initial your child’s planner nightly. These students still require support from home.
*****NEW*****Third Graders were introduced to a new reading log for the 2nd semester. Students are still required to read for a minimum of 20 minutes per night and record a response on their reading log. This week, our class is to respond by writing a brief summary about what they have read each night. Logs are DUE every Wednesday. Book Bucks are earned with every 100 minutes read. Students can “purchase” books from our “Book Buck Library” with 10 book bucks.
Nightly reading is crucial to your child's overall reading success. Reading should be an interactive process, so please remember to initial your child's log before turning it in on Wednesday.
Each Friday students will receive spelling lists and worksheets. Practice spelling the words correctly and complete the homework worksheets as they are due each Thursday. Spelling Tests will be administered on Fridays.
