What another wonderful week of learning! Participating in the Hour of Code, building landforms, and enjoying the Nutcracker Ballet were the highlights! These days seem to just be flying by, and our winter break is only days away.
Thank you to our awesome PTA for helping with our admission to the Nutcracker at the Long Center. The students loved the ballet, and we guess many parents will be asked to go again. It was lovely weather for a fabulous field trip.
HOUR OF CODE: We were very excited with programing this week. Our technology support, Ms. Owen walked us through the “code” available through our website on the “student links “ page. This was impressive and just might light the spark for future careers. Ask your children.
COSTUMES FOR “DECEMBER ‘ROUND THE WORLD”: Costumes are due in the classroom Monday. Please send your child’s costume neatly ironed on a hanger. If jeans are part of the costume, your child should wear them on the days of the performances. All shoes and accessories should be placed in a bag and labeled with your child’s name. If you take a few extra minutes at home to help us with organization, we will be most appreciative. Students should come on Wednesday with hair “fixed” so that it will stay for the 8:15 performance.
PERFORMANCES: The performances for “December ‘Round the World” are on December 15th and 16th. On Tuesday, students will perform for the entire school at 1:15 p.m. On Wednesday, parents, grandparents, and special friends are invited to an 8:15 a.m. performance.
STAAR PREPARATION BOOKLETS: Please send in your order form for the STAAR practice book, Texas Buckle Down Texas STAAR Edition by Monday, December 14. The informational letter and order form were in your child’s Tuesday folder. If you did not receive the letter, please let your teacher know. Third grade teachers will be placing the order so that you will receive them in January.
HOLIDAY PARTY: Our classroom Holiday Party will be held on Thursday, December 17th at 1:30. I would love to see all of you here. Please remember that, as per district policy, younger siblings will not be allowed at the party, however Mary Anne Hettenhaus has a note on the CCE page about childcare being provided. Please contact her if you need to make these arrangements. Also, please send an email to Cheryl Garihan: at [email protected] if you plan to volunteer or attend the Holiday Party so she can have a badge ready for you. Thank you!
