What a wonderful event! Your child did an amazing job reciting a mentor poem and reading an original work of art. Hopefully, poetry will be a life-long love for your child. Thank you to the Homeroom Moms for getting and setting up the goodies to eat and drink. A special thanks to the Makwana's for donating the coffee and hot chocolate from It's A Grind Coffee Shop. Thank you Mrs. Van de Vere for donating the flowers and Mrs. Davey for donating the marshmallows. Also, a big thank you Mrs. Bao and Mrs. Zhang for cleaning up afterwards and getting the Coffee House room back to a classroom!

December Night Writes are due on Monday, December 15th. Your child is to write one fabulous narrative. It should include an introduction, 2-3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion. We have discussed that you MUST write to the prompt you choose. The introduction should state or hint at the prompt- it must catch the reader's attention. The body paragraphs should be in chronological order since this is a personal story (from the heart) about a small moment in time. These paragraphs should be descriptive by showing not telling. Use figurative language to spice things up, but do not go overboard, a little goes a long way. Be sure that the conclusion reflects on or readdresses the prompt. No new information should be in the conclusion.
