Welcome to the last full week of October and the first week of our second quarter of instruction! This week is a full one, as we look forward to celebrating Canyon Creek’s 20th Anniversary as well as participate in Red Ribbon Week!
Happy Birthday to Noah and Kiley!
Congratulations to Kiley for being our MVP of the week. We enjoyed learning more about our special classmate when she shared her banner with us on Friday.
Thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers and Jennifer Smith for making Robolab so much FUN! We learned a lot about alternative energy and built solar powered Ferris Wheels and windmills. Check out the pictures above. I just LOVE them!
I truly appreciate your continued support!
Enjoying your children,
Joni Biggers
CAMPUS and 3rd GRADE ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Our character word for October is self disciplined.
Red Ribbon Week:
This week is our annual Red Ribbon Week with the theme “REFLECTing on healthy choices!” Here is our schedule for the week:
Monday: We are "RED-y" to live a healthy life! (wear red)
Tuesday: Team up for good choices (wear team jerseys or team shirts)
Wednesday: Sock it to drugs (Wear crazy socks)
Thursday: We're WILD about living healthy (crazy hair day)
Friday: CCE Strong (wear CCE t-shirt)
Please refer back to your copy of our schedule which was printed on red paper; it came home in the Tuesday folders on Oct. 17! Hang it on the refrigerator to help your child remember what to do each day. Thank you for your help!
Library Reading Incentive
Keep Reading! Students have until November 3rd to read 6 books from different sections of the library. I am encouraging 100% participation! Kuddos to those who have already turned their form in.
Please talk to your child about what books they will be selecting. They can use those books to read as part of their Reading Response homework. Details are online and additional recording sheets can be obtained from the library.
TAG Referral Parent Information Night
Canyon Creek will be hosting TAG Referral Information Night for families interested in referring their students for TAG testing. This night is designed for families whose students are not currently enrolled in the TAG program but are interested in testing. Please join us in the library on November 8th from 6:00-7:00pm for more information about how to complete the referral process.
WEEKLY HOMEWORK:
Planners are completed daily. Please check and initial your child’s planner nightly. These students still require support from home.
Students are required to read for a minimum of 20 minutes per night and record a quick response on their reading logs. Logs are DUE every Wednesday. Book Bucks are earned with every 100 minutes read. Students can “purchase” books from our “Book Buck Library” with 10 book bucks.
Nightly reading is crucial to your child's overall reading success. Reading should be an interactive process, so please remember to initial your child's log before turning it in on Wednesday.
Each Friday students will receive spelling lists and worksheets. Practice spelling the words correctly and complete the homework worksheets as they are due each Thursday. Spelling Tests will be administered on Fridays.
