FRIDAY FEAST: Many thanks to PTA and fourth grade for providing a delicious Mexican Feast. This is just what we all needed on a rainy Friday. Such signs of appreciation are heartwarming as well as “tummy-filling.”
RED RIBBON WEEK: Next week is CCE’s annual Red Ribbon Week. The emphasis is on encouraging the children to be healthy and happy while at CCE. Each day the children are asked to wear something fun. Let’s all participate!

EARLY RELEASE: Students will be dismissed at 12:45 on Wednesday, October 28th.
CHERISHED ART: All student work needs to be returned whether you are purchasing or not. These are due 10/30.
FUN RUN: The Spooky Sprint Fun Run is Friday, October 30th. Please return your orange forms if you are interested in running.
THANKSGIVING MEAL: If you haven’t ordered the Thanksgiving meal, there’s still time, all are due by 10/30. It will be offered Wednesday, November 18th. Please do not send money but just the order form. On the day of the meal, please try to bring the exact dollar amount.
EMPATHY: This is CCE’s character trait for October. We will be encouraging the children to put themselves in the shoes of others.
LEARNING TOPICS FOR THE WEEK:
Reading/Writing: Students will read non-fiction text features to locate information. They will be able to identify non-fiction text features, and identify how they help them understand the text. In writing students will continue gathering information for a three paragraph expository essay. The essays will have three paragraphs. Each will include a topic sentence, supporting detail sentences, and a closing sentence. Students will be researching water conservation and starting to make their presentations to Inform others.
Science/Social Studies: PBL Launch with water conservation “ How can we educate and inform CCE community the importance of water resources and conservation”.
We will also be learning about mixtures and tools used to separate them.
Math: Solving perimeter problems using addition, subtraction, and multiplication strategies.
