It has been another great week in 3rd Grade!
MVP (Most Valuable Player):
Congratulations to Declan for being our MVP this week! We enjoyed learning more about our special classmate when he shared his banner with us on Thursday!
Book Bucks:
Many thanks for the donations to our Book Buck Library program! You have been extremely generous, and I truly appreciate it. I will be placing our Scholastic order soon, as I work to stock our Book Buck Library.
Library Books and Check out Time:
Please help your child to remember to return their library books on Wednesdays. We visit the library every Wednesday afternoon. The children are able to check out 5 books at a time. So, encourage your child to select a variety of genres. That’s one of the keys to learning to LOVE reading! That, and finding a “just right book”, one that is not too hard nor too easy. Mrs. Bamford and I will also assist with choosing that "just right book".
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Fall conferences are a great time to learn more about how to help your child with reading, writing, spelling, and math. In third grade, the conferences are parent-teacher conferences, so please make childcare arrangements for your 20-minute slot. Your third grader will be providing input into the conference before the adults get together to talk about goals for your child. I look forward to our conferences!
CCE Family Create Peace Night
As families get busier, "together time" seems more difficult to achieve. Please come and join us on Tuesday, September 26th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. for some creative, engaging time with your child. Our CCE Singing Stars Choir will lead the school in singing “A Song of Peace” at 6:00 p.m., and then we will begin the evening’s many activities. There will be a variety of hands-on experiences that everyone will enjoy. Hope to see you there!
Hosted by: Mary Weir (Art), Debbie Martin (Music) and Julianne Bamford (Librarian)
From the Counselor
We are having a canned food drive for Central Texas Food Bank to provide additional support to those affected by Hurricane Harvey in Central Texas. Please bring your nonperishable item to the collection boxes by the front staircase. Thank you for supporting those in need in our area.

IT’S PTA BOX TOP TIME!
CCE’s annual Box Top Collection Competition runs Sept. 11 to Oct. 6th. Classes compete to bring in the most Box Tops and win prizes! Also, don't forget that the HEB Box Tops special promotion started Sept. 6 and runs through Sept. 19. If you purchase 10 General Mills Box Top items, you get a certificate for 60 bonus box tops. And if you buy 15 box tops items, you get a certificate for 100 bonus box tops. Go here to see the list of participating products to plan your purchases. Each child that brings in an HEB Bonus certificate of 60 or more will get a small prize. Thanks for making this such a fun and important fund-raising opportunity for CCE! Thanks so much to our sponsors - Papa John's Pizza at Volente Plaza, Qualtech Automotive, Chicken Express, Subway at Four Points, and Ms. Doughnuts. Contact Cory Vessa at [email protected] if you have any questions. Please clip and send box tops to school during our competition time.
